Get up and running with Beep in 30 minutes or less. This guide covers the essentials: connecting your data, importing contacts, and sending your first message.

5 Steps to Your First Message
Follow these steps in order. Each takes just a few minutes.
Sign Up & Choose Your Plan
2 minsCreate your account and select the plan that fits your needs. Start with the 30-day free trial—no credit card required.
Quick tips:
- • Use your work email for the account
- • Choose Core for small teams, Professional for growing businesses
- • You can upgrade or downgrade anytime
Import Your Contacts
5-10 minsUpload your contact list or connect to your existing system. Beep accepts CSV files, Excel spreadsheets, or can sync directly with Xero and other platforms.
Option A: Upload a file
- 1.Go to Contacts → Import
- 2.Upload your CSV or Excel file
- 3.Map columns (Name, Mobile, Email, etc.)
- 4.Review and confirm import
Option B: Connect your system
- 1.Go to Integrations → Connect
- 2.Select your platform (Xero, CRM, etc.)
- 3.Authorize the connection
- 4.Choose what data to sync
Pro tip: Make sure phone numbers include country code (+64 for NZ). Beep will flag any invalid numbers during import.
Set Up Groups
5 minsOrganize contacts into groups so you can target messages effectively. Groups can be based on teams, locations, roles, or any criteria that makes sense for your business.
Example groups:
"All Staff", "Management Team", "Auckland Office", "Field Workers", "Customers", "Overdue Clients"
How to create a group:
- 1. Go to Contacts → Groups
- 2. Click "Create Group"
- 3. Name your group and add description
- 4. Add contacts manually or use filters (job role, location, tags, etc.)
Send Your First Message
5 minsTime to send your first message. We recommend starting with a simple announcement or test message to familiarize yourself with the platform.
Quick send steps:
- 1.Go to Messages → New Message
- 2.Select recipients (individual, group, or all contacts)
- 3.Choose channel (SMS, Email, or both)
- 4.Write your message or select a template
- 5.Preview and send (or schedule for later)
Example first messages:
Team announcement:
"This is a test message from our new communication platform, Beep. Reply YES to confirm you've received this."
Customer notification:
"Hi [Name], we're now using Beep for updates. You'll receive timely notifications about your account via SMS and email."
Check Your Reports
3 minsView delivery reports to see how your message performed. This shows you what's working and where to improve.
